Lipid Optimisation Clinic

Learn more about our Lipid Optimisation Clinic

What is the Lipid Optimisation Clinic?

The Lipid optimisation clinic is a specialist service provided by Central Camden PCN to support patients with high cholesterol, particularly where standard treatments are not suitable or sufficient. The clinic focuses on optimising lipid management to help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

What does the clinic offer?

The Lipid optimisation clinic provides access to treatment with Inclisiran, an injectable medicine that helps lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Inclisiran is used alongside existing treatments to support heart health when other cholesterol lowering options are not enough or cannot be tolerated.

Who is the clinic for?

  • Adults aged 18 and over
  • People who already have heart disease or related cardiovascular conditions
  • People with high LDL cholesterol (LDL ≥ 2.6 mmol/L)
  • Patients who cannot take statins or whose cholesterol remains high despite treatment

What can I expect from an appointment?

Patients attending the Lipid optimisation clinic can expect:

  • Inclisiran to be given as an injection by a healthcare professional
  • Regular follow-up appointments and cholesterol checks to monitor progress

Please note: your appointment may not be based at your usual GP practice due to clinic room availability.

What are the benefits?

Treatment through the Lipid optimisation clinic may:

  • Help lower cholesterol when other treatments are not effective
  • Reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke

How do I access the service?

Patients cannot self refer. If you think you may benefit from the Lipid optimisation clinic, please contact your registered GP practice to discuss whether a referral is appropriate.
